Floor Coating:
Detroit Department of Transportation
The challenge was to install a long lasting maintainable floor coating system for the owner that could withstand 40,000 lb vehicles and
chemical used at repair facilities. After considering many options REA 401 polyaspartic lining system from V-tac Group, Inc. The floor was installed in the 1950’s and had not had a coating system on it since it was built. The surface preparation was paramount. The floor was first shot blasted and cleaned with Biosolve, a hydrocarbon encapsulant, to remove residuals grease and oil not removed by the blasting process. The primer coat was then installed using PCS-30 series penetrating epoxy primer. Finally 20 mils of REA 401 polyaspartic coating was applied before installing the line striping and decals. Inspection was done 6 months after installation and the product was performing admirably.
